Dry Mounting

The process of adhereing the subject to a stiffer substrate giving it rigidity. This process is carried out by means of a heated vacuum press and can remove most creases and fold lines from the subject. Especialy used in the framing of large subjects such as posters and photographs or light flimsy subjects such as newspaper cuttings to prevent them sagging. This process is not recomended for valuable works of art or limited edition prints as it does not conform to conservation standards.
